We are caring, accepting, and interactive therapists who help give structure and direction in the counseling process.
We take each person’s difficulties and problems seriously, but also have a good sense of humor and often laugh with our clients as we sort through problems that seem so overwhelming and impossible at first.
Our approach to therapy has evolved over time from focusing mostly on past childhood/family of origin issues to focusing on present thoughts, feelings, beliefs and how a person is functioning in his current relationships and responsibilities.
We generally use cognitive-behavioral and interpersonal approaches that are solution focused.
The first part of therapy is to clarify needs, goals, and expectations. We recognize that a person’s past plays a major role in how we view the world and how we view ourselves.
